Daventry Expansion
Daventry is a
small market town tucked away in Northamptonshire which is
surrounded on all sides by the best type of English rolling
countryside. The town has limited capacity to expand without
destroying its surroundings and the very essence of itself. Council leader Chris
Millar is behind the plan to build houses over the countryside
surrounding Daventry leading to a rapid and unsustainable doubling
of the size of the town. This is likely to lead to local unemployment, a
further depression in local house prices and traffic chaos on the
local rural roads.
The proposed Personal Rapid Transport System
The planned doubling of the
population of Daventry will lead to huge problems. For a
start the town will be short of thousands of parking spaces
which will lead to the town centre being choked with traffic and
actively avoided by shoppers. The Council Leader, Chris Millar's solution to
this is a Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) system which would
feature electric vehicles without drivers travelling around
the town on a 55-mile track.
Is this suitable for a small

Daventry expansion will
involve surrounding the Country Parkwith houses and turning
it into an urban pond or a Wildlife Park without wildlife.
