The Croudace “Churchfields” development will directly or indirectly result in the death of about 60 badgers (19 badger setts at least 12 of which are active).

The “Danetree Village” village plans will destroy a larger area of farmland and so the total number of Badgers destroyed could be more than double this. (120 Badgers)

The destruction of the local Badgers

Croudace concede that there are likely to be significant detrimental effects on the local Badger population and that with reduced foraging and ability to travel and increased road deaths their future survival is threatened by the development. Badgers are protected under The Badgers Act (1992)What is the point of this protection if the planners simply ignore it?

;; DANETREE VILLAGE BADGERS ;; CROUDACE BADGERS

There are reported to be 19 Badger sets within less than a mile to the East and Northeast of Daventry Reservoir and most if not all of these will be directly or indirectly affected by the Croudace development. The entire area is used for foraging by Badgers and well used Badger paths have been documented.
